How It All Started
I started thrifting in college because it was a budget-friendly way to find & wear vintage clothing that no one else had. As a fashion major, I began learning more about sustainability and how bad for the environment fast-fashion is, which further pushed me to want to shop secondhand as much as possible.
Creating one of a kind outfits with the vintage & thrifted items that I’d find quickly became my favorite hobby. After graduating college in 2012, I decided to turn my hobby into a side hustle, and opened my first Etsy shop.
As the years passed, I opened a second Etsy store that was focused on baby & kids vintage clothing, got my own booth at a local handmade & vintage shop, and started selling on additional online platforms like Thrilling, Poshmark and The Real Real.
By late 2021 I started feeling overwhelmed by working full-time and selling vintage on multiple platforms. I decided to quit my job and start focusing on my own interests, and kristisvintage.com was created soon after.
